The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro has a lot of the same built-in features as its predecessor, including the 1/1.3” CMOS image sensor and 4K recording capabilities.

The 1/1.3” CMOS sensor in the Action 5 Pro offers a claimed 13.5-stops of dynamic range. This DR works for all video specifications, including the maximum resolution of 4K60 video. The Action 5 Pro can also capture 40MP photos
The action camera also comes with 10-bit and D-Log M color support.
You can record directly to the onboard 47GB of storage or use an SD card.
There are dual OLED touchscreens, and the rear screen has a claimed brightness of 1000 cd/m². Both screens also feature a specialized AF coating that ensures the screens remain responsive even if they get wet.
There is the existing HorizonSteady and RockSteady stabilization from previous models, as well as a new subject tracking mode that is said to detect people in front of the camera and adjust the composition to keep them centered.
This smart stabilization feature helps to eliminate camera shake in all directions and even horizontally corrects tilt at any angle in 2.7K60 video. That means footage can remain horizontally level, even through heavy bumps and 360° rotations. In addition, you can activate HorizonBalancing, which corrects the tilt horizontally within ±45° and supports recording stable 4K60 videos.
RockSteady 3.0 effectively reduces shakes while retaining the dynamic impact of motion, delivering a more immersive first-person perspective and supporting video recording up to 4K120.
With the Osmo Action 5 Pro, you have the ability to capture vertical video for uploading to social media sites. The camera’s chassis and the included frame provide a magnetic quick release to switch from horizontal to vertical format. The Action 5 Pro can operate underwater without a case down to 59′ and, with the optional Dive Case, it can operate down to 197′.
You can live stream directly from your Action 5 Pro using the built-in dual-band Wi-Fi or your phone’s hotspot.
Three built-in omnidirectional microphones record sound. You can also connect the separately available DJI Mic 2 for a portable, easy-to-mount audio solution with 32-bit float recording. The camera can connect to other external microphones using an optional USB-C to 3.5mm cable.
The Osmo Action 5 Pro comes in two base combo kits: the Standard Combo and the Adventure Combo. Each combo kit already includes several accessories, but DJI also has separately available compatible accessories as well.

The Standard Combo includes the camera and a range of accessories. The Extreme Battery lasts longer than standard batteries, and it can withstand low temperatures. The Horizontal-Vertical Protective Frame fits around the camera and provides quick mounting in either horizontal (standard) or vertical (portrait) mode. It also includes several mounting options, including a quick-release adapter mount, curved adhesive base, locking screw, and anti-slip pad, as well as a lens hood and a USB-C PD fast charging cable.

The Adventure Combo includes the camera and everything in the Standard Combo but also has three Extreme Batteries, an additional Mini quick-release adapter mount, two locking screws, a battery charging case, and a 4.9′ Mini Extension Rod.

There’s nothing overly exciting or groundbreaking with this new camera, and it is a fairly mild upgrade over its predecessor, it will be interesting to see how it compares to GoPro’s latest offering.
