At IBC 2024 in Amsterdam I caught up with Kelvin to get a preview of their new FW1.1 for the Epos 600.
The new FW1.1 for Epos 600 offers:
- Three additional dimming curves – Exponential, Logarithmic and the S-Curve for more dynamic in lower or upper dimming range
- More lux / fc – the new High mode unleashes the power enabling maximum illuminance levels, and flicker free for high frame
- CCT shift compensation for different accessories
- New help text and improved user experience
- Bug fixes and maintenance
The new dimming curves will also be available for the next FW for Kelvin Play series.
You can update the Kelvin Narrator App to automatically get the latest automatic FW updates.
Dimming Curves
In Exponential dimming from 0 – 50% adjusts the light between 0 –10%. In Logarithmic dimming from 50 – 100% adjusts the light between 90 and 100%. S-Curve combines best of both for maximal flexibility.
High Mode
High Mode allows for higher power draw (720 W rated) to achieve the brightest illumination – up to 10,000 lux @3m / 5600 K with Kelvin’s standard reflector.
This is available in CCT mode only and there is flicker-free operation (no PWM) for high frame rate / high-speed application. When in this mode the fan is locked to the High setting.
Improved Accessory Support
The Epos 600 is calibrated when used with its High Performance Lens. There is compensation of CCT shift when used bare, with the Medium Diffusor D90, or with the Dome Diffusor to maintain the selected color temperature precisely.
