At IBC 2024 in Amsterdam, I caught up with Wooden Camera to have a look at their upcoming Elite Accessory System for the Canon EOS C80. It is an intuitive accessory system that optimizes the functionality of the EOS C80. This collection includes a Top Plate, Base Plate System, and a side NATO Rail adding mounting points. The battery slide provides 3 accessory D-taps, and a digital fuse with a push-button reset.
Elite Accessory System for Canon EOS C80 ($1,799 USD)
This system starts with an ARCA Base Plate and Riser that offers a base that keeps your build at the appropriate optical height for mounting accessories in traditional cinema workflows. The built-in ARCA system allows for quick transitions between Steadicam, shoulder, or tripod workflows. Two 12” 15mm rods and a Safety Dovetail are included to round out the foundation of your setup.
The NATO Side Rail provides additional mounting points to the operator’s side, connecting the Top and Riser plates, creating a robust, secure design that wraps around the camera.
To cap off this Elite System is the 2-piece Top Plate that is secured to the top of the camera via a single ¼”-20 screw and through the hot shoe mount on the back of the camera. The design includes a removable back plate, if the user wants to use the hot shoe mount. This system also includes an Ultra Handle that allows users to securely hold on to your camera as well as adds mounting options for additional accessories.
The power component of the Elite System is our Pro Gold Mount or V-Mount battery slides that provide external power to the Canon EOS C80. The Battery Slides feature 3x D-Tap ports for accessory power– including a digital fuse, which cuts off accessory outputs while leaving the camera powered. This battery plate can be attached to the Top Plate or Riser Plate by aligning the interlocking ridges and turning the thumbwheel to tighten a ¼”-20 screw. When mounted to the Top Plate, this system still allows access to the original battery compartment– enabling operators to hot-swap power between both BPU and brick batteries. To adjust the battery plate’s vertical position, loosen the pivoting clamp and slide the plate up or down.

RF to PL Lens Mount Adapter ($549 USD)
The RF to PL Lens Mount Adapter includes focus shims for precise
adjustment of back-focus and a ¼”-20 on the base for a lens support adapter.
Canon RF to PL Mount (Pro)
The Canon RF to PL Mount (Pro) allows you to easily mount PL lenses on your Canon EOS C80 with this shimmable adapter. It includes a ¼”-20 threaded hole for mount support, to prevent flexing and strain when attached to the Base Plate System. This mount also includes a PL Cap to protect the sensor area from dust when the lens is detached.
