Wooden Camera’s new Cine Mag Ties are one of those small and inexpensive products that can come in very handy. The concept behind the Cine Mag Ties was to come up with a better solution than using threadbare Velcro strips and breakable cable clips.
We first saw the Cine Mag Ties at Cine Gear 2024 earlier this month. Above, you can see my interview with Wooden camera
What are they?
The Cine Mag Ties are silicon-molded magnet cable ties that give you an easy way to streamline your cable management, identify your runs, and personalize your setup. They feature quick-attach/release design which makes them easy to use.
The magnet is actually pretty strong so it won’t disengage unless you apply a certain amount of force.
They are available in 105mm and 175mm lengths with an integrated loop for attachment via a 1/4”-20 camera screw or directly to the cable itself to prevent misplacement. In addition, the silicon is stretchable allowing it to fit over cable connectors making sure they always travel with your cables on or off your setups.
Build Quality
For such a simple device, the Cine Mag Ties are well made. As I mentioned earlier, the magnetic attachments are very strong and the silicon-molded cable ties are strong and pliable.
The magnets are incredibly strong given how small they are.
It would be interesting to see how well they stand up to the test of time. The only slight concern I would have is how many times you could keep stretching the silicon before they end up tearing.
13 Different Colors
You can select from 13 colors: yellow, red, green, blue, orange, teal, purple, pink, black, neon blue, neon green, neon orange, and neon pink.

- Cine Mag Ties 105mm / 4.1in: Weight: 21.68 g (0.05 lbs) | Dimensions: 105 x 18.1 x 21.5 mm (4.1 x 0.7 x 0.8 in)

Usability
I found the Cine Mag Ties to be a good solution for securing various types of cables for a wide variety of different applications.
I used them for cable management on my camera, but I also use them in conjunction with Chrosziel Chaos Cable Ties because I can use those to screw into 1/4-20″ or 3/8″ threads.
I also found them to be a good solution for securing items like 15mm or 19mm rods when transporting or storing them.
They also work well for keeping audio or video cables nicely coiled.
You can also use therm on booms, etc. to secure audio or power cables.
They are not going to be a one stop shop replacement for securing every type of cable, but they are a good addition and they work really well.
The biggest caveat with them is because they are a certain size and you can only stretch them so much, they may not be a tight enough fit for some applications.
Just having a pack in your bag is really handy for those times when you need to quickly secure a cable.
Price & availability
The Wooden Camera Cine Mag Ties are now available to purchase for $12.99 USD for a set of 5 (105mm or 175mm).
Conclusion
I often find that the smallest and most inexpensive products are often my favorite items. Cable management is essential for keeping everything neat and tidy and you want to be able to do it with a minimal amount of fuss.
The magnetic connection is a clever way of securing cables and most importantly it a very easy system to use.
The Wooden Camera Cine Mag Ties are an alternative option to products like the Chrosziel Cable Ties and the Panavision Modular: Cable Clips, but they are arguably a more universal and versatile solution for cable management.
While they do feature an integrated loop for attachment via a 1/4”-20 camera screw or directly to a cable itself to prevent misplacement, I would also like to see Wooden Camera make a version that features an integrated 1/4-20″ or 3/8″ screw so you could attach it directly to cameras or other equipment.
I found the Wooden Camera Cine Mag Ties to be a very useful and practical solution for securing cables. I like that they come in various colors, because it makes identifying a cable a lot quicker, as long as you know what color is on what cable!
Sometimes the simple things are the best.
