MRMC has announced Super Milo, a high speed motion control robot that was designed specifically for macro, tabletop, CGI work, and high-speed live-action shooting. The Super Milo allows for precise repeatable camera movements.
The Super Milo significantly enhances speed, acceleration, reach, and quick assembly. Speeds of up to 3 m/s on track and 5 m/s with combined camera movement can be achieved for high-speed filming. It is equipped with state-of-the-art brushless motors and achieves speeds up to 100% faster and accelerations up to 400% quicker than the original Milo. The rig can take a camera payload of 35kg / 77.16 lbs.
Key features
- Precision Engineering: Enables smooth & stable movements across all shooting angles, from ground level up.
- Brushless Motors: Utilises high-performance motors for enhanced speed and acceleration.
- Modular Design: Easily add 1.5m arm extensions for increased reach and stability.
- Portable & Ready to Shoot: Can be wheeled in and set up by one person in under an hour.
- Automated Lift System: 24VDC-powered actuators independently lift each wheel unit on track.
- Fully Integratable: Compatible with leading 3D, CGI, and virtual production software like Unreal Engine.
It is fully integratable with leading VFX software like Unreal Engine, the Super Milo can stream real-time positional data and can synchronize with LED walls for virtual production.
The geometry of the Super Milo is claimed to allow for smooth, stable movements below ground level to a maximum height of 6.1m / 19.68′.
With easy-to-fit extensions, it offers flexible shooting configurations. Electronic lifting actuators expedite track setup. The setup takes under an hour and is fitted with an electric jacking system that makes rail assembly fast.
