With the Japanese Yen being so weak against the Euro, the cost of imported items has skyrocketed. While this has been great for tourists and Japanese companies exporting goods, for anyone importing goods, it has the opposite effect.

The ARRI Japan office opened in June 2022. It features a 150 square meter creative space, purposefully designed to be easily transformed into a professional studio, a showroom, or a training area.

ARRI Japan also houses a first-class service center equipped to cater to all repair and maintenance concerns.

Below you can read the email that was sent out to customers in Japan.

Dear valued customers and partners,

Dear Sir/Madam,

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued patronage. We would like to announce some important information regarding the operation of ARRI Japan.

ARRI Japan has been facing economic challenges for some time. To address these challenges, and after careful consideration, we have developed a strategic restructuring plan. This decision was made due to the continued depreciation of the yen, which has led to a significant increase in import costs. Our products are primarily imported from Germany, and the disparity between the yen and the euro has put us at a disadvantage compared to other products distributed in Japan.

This restructuring plan also includes the temporary cessation of office operations and service activities in Japan, effective July 1, 2024, which is very unfortunate. However, this doesnot mean that ARRI will withdraw from the Japanese market. Our Country Manager Carlos Chu and Business Development Manager Atsuya Otake will continue to fully support our customers and partners in Japan, and will continue to focus on further business development. In addition, our extensive reseller network in Japan will remain intact and provide local support.

Going forward, ARRI Asia in Singapore will be handling customer needs in Japan. There will be no change to the lens service provided in Japan. Service operations will be handled expertly by our local service partner, in coordination with our expanded service team in Singapore. This means you can rest assured that any service issues will be handled promptly and professionally.

We also understand the importance of maintaining a strong online presence in Japan, and are currently updating our Japanese website to provide more comprehensive content and product information in Japanese, making it easier to access information about ARRI ‘s latest products.

Japan remains an important market in the Asia Pacific region, and we will continue to provide our customers in Japan with the highest quality products, cutting-edge solutions and unparalleled service. We thank you for your continued support during our operational transition.
