The Maxima Furiosa is being touted as the most portable, high-power, Bi-colour LED fixture on the market. It is a self-contained unit with no external ballast and it weighs just 6.7kg / 14.77 lb.
I have previously reviewed both the Maxima 300 and the Maxima 6 GaN on the site. Both of these fixtures were excellent and they had some of the most impressive photometric scores that I have ever seen. The Furiosa looks like it builds on the success of both of those fixtures.
Mad Maxima
Furiosa is not only the Maxima’s first Bi-Color fixture but is consistent with their philosophy of efficiency maximization and sustainability. It has a power consumption of just 800W and a claimed output of 80,000 lumens. Maxima states that Furiosa sets a new standard in efficiency for film production, allowing for extended battery operation, reduced consumption in the studio and a much smaller carbon footprint, exceeding any standard for the environmentally responsible set.
Every Furiosa is individually tested for 40 hours to ensure that all specifications are met and that every unit has no color/output shift greater than 0.02%, thus ensuring that any Furiosa is perfectly matched, no matter the production batch.
The fixtures offer full moisture protection to make your life easier when dealing with outdoors productions in the most demanding situations.
Maxima claims that the Furiosa has the lowest noise levels in the industry, and that it offers an unprecedented step forward into LED efficiency thanks to a patented UltraCore heat dissipation unit and native, hot-swap compatibility with Profoto, ARRI and Bowens accessories.
It features a continuously adjustable color temperature of 2800K to 6800K with the same reliability and quality that have become the hallmark of Maxima fixtures.
Like other Maxima fixtures, the Furiosa has a unique look with a very industrial design. The Furiosa features minimalistic, purely-analog knobs, but you can also control it via an app.
The MaximaControl app lets you command up to 8 units simultaneously, triggering fully customizable effects and creating arrays on the fly with the unique “Environment” view.
The Furiosa comes in a nice flight case.
