Godox showed a prototype BeamLight Max90 spotlight at NAB 2024, and it’s a beast. NAB is all about getting feedback on potential product ideas. If you build it, they will come, is a good analogy.
The Godox BeamLight Max90 is a very bright spotlight with a massive throw. Its idea is to get light where conventional light fixtures just can’t reach. For example, you need to put light on a building’s 10th floor from outside at night, and it must have a good output to do so.
Utilizing cutting-edge optical design and precision techniques, the BeamLight Max90 achieves an incredibly narrow beam angle of just 5°. This enables it to deliver powerful parallel beams with slow decay and remarkable efficiency, making it perfect for replicating natural sunlight over long distances. When combined with Cine Lighting Reflectors LiteFlow, it forms an optimal parallel lighting system, maximizing light utilization efficiency.
Another use case would be to bounce the light beam into reflectors. This technique can give you different degrees of softness.
The BeamLight Max90 significantly enhances the throw distance and illuminance of G-Mount LED fixtures, such as the KNOWLED MG2400Bi and MG1200Bi. Godox states that when combined with the MG2400Bi, it offers a punchy brightness comparable to traditional 12K HMI fixtures while reducing power requirements and simplifying setup.
Designed with the innovative Godox G-Mount, the BeamLight Max90 is compatible with current models, such as the MG1200Bi and MG2400Bi, and future releases of G-Mount LED fixtures. This design ensures versatility and cost-effectiveness within the system.
While it has a flexible yoke design, it’s a beast to tilt, so it probably is a two-person operation. To transport it will include a Flight Case. The yoke enables extensive flexibility for adjusting angles, allowing for versatile lighting setups.
There isn’t a price set as it is a prototype. Godox is very interested in feedback on the BeamLight Max90 from potential customers.
