Easyrig was showing their latest innovation, the Boom Rig, at NAB 2024 in Las Vegas. The Boom Rig is being touted as a lightweight and portable Easyrig for all sound engineers and boom operators.
It looks like a great solution for boom operators and sound recordists and Easyrig has obviously spent a lot of time and effort on the design and implementation. EasyRig told me that it has been in development for the last 4-5 years.
Above you can watch the launch video.
By turning the knob in the back, the Boom Rig can be adjusted to fit your boom perfectly. It can take weights between 2.5-10 kg (5.5-22 lbs).
The Boom Rig can be attached to any boom with the easy-to-use hook. The hook has rollers that allows the user to easily twist the boom pole.
It was designed to be very quick and easy to set-up. It takes under a minute to get the Boom Rig up and running after you have removed it from the bag.
The included Boom Rig bag can also be used as a backpack as well.
You can easily go from overhead to underslung quickly and the design allows it to fit through doorways and into higher spaces.
You can attach a mixer to the front of the Boom Rig vest for easy access and to have the weight on the hips.
You can also free your hands by attaching the pole to the side hook of the Boom Rig vest.
The Boom Rig has a wight capacity of 2.5-10 kg / 5.5-22 lbs and it weighs 3.8 kg / 8.3 lbs.
Above you can see the maximum boom length that can be used with the system.
What is also nice is that if you own an Easyrig like the MiniMax, you can just buy the Boom Rig adapter and not the whole rig.
Price & Availability
The Easyrig Boom Rig kit costs around $2,200 USD or $1,500 USD for just the Boom Rig without the vest. They should be shipping in the US first in limited quantities from next week.
It will also be available in different sizes and Easyrig will also be making a version for females which is good to see.
