At NAB 2024 in Las Vegas, we caught up with NANLITE to look at their yet-to-be-announced Alien 150C and 300C fixtures which are being targeted at broadcasters and Indie filmmakers.
As their name would suggest, the Alien 150C is a 150W fixture and the 300C is a 300W fixture. Both lights utilize similar LED technology that is found in NANLITE’s PavoSlim fixtures.
They look to be very robustly made, which is important if they are being targeted for run and gun broadcast applications.
Both fixtures come with separate power supply/controllers so that you can minimize the weight of the light head which enables you to use smaller and lighter light stands. You can run both the 150C and 300C from 14.4V or 26V batteries. You can also run the 300C via a 48V DC input and the 150C can be run via a 24V DC input.
The 150C head weighs 3.6kg / 7.9 lb and the power supply/controller box weighs 2kg / 4.4 lb. The 300C head weighs 6.6kg / 14.55 lb and the power supply/controller box is 2.6kg 5.73 lb.
Pricing & Availability
Both fixtures are scheduled to be available in Q2 of this year. The Alien 150C will be below $1,000 USD and the Alien 300C will be under $1,500 USD.
