Laowa has announced its new 10mm f/2.8 Zero-D FF Lens. It is claimed to be the world’s first rectilinear 10mm full-frame lens with f/2.8 aperture and the first-ever auto-focus lens for Sony E and Nikon Z mount in Laowa’s lineup.
It was designed to be compact and lightweight and the lens weighs 420g / 0.93 lbs. The lens is claimed to deliver outstanding image quality and close-to-zero distortion.
What is very interesting, is that despite that fact that it is a 10mm focal length, the lens has a 77mm front filter thread.

The very wide 130.4° angle of view helps exaggerate the sense of space with a very unique perspective.
Usually, a 10mm focal length will either be a fisheye or have heavy distortion. According to Laowa, the 10mm optically suppresses distortion to a close-to-zero level. Both horizontal and vertical straight lines can be maintained on the image from corner to corner.
The minimum focusing distance is just 12cm / 4.72″, allowing you to get super close to the subjects and create interesting wide-angle macro style shots with nice separation between the object and background.
The optical construction of the lens consists of 15 elements in 9 groups, including 2 aspherical glasses and 3 ED glasses. The lens has 5 aperture blades, and it can create a 10-point Sunstar can be created when stopping down the aperture.
The 10mm is the first Laowa lens equipped with autofocusing. AF is available for both Sony E and Nikon Z mounts. Unfortunately there is no AF capabilities when using the lens in Canon RF mount or Leica L mount.

The new Laowa 10mm f/2.8 Zero-D FF is currently pre-order via Venus Optics official website (http://www.venuslens.net/) and authorized resellers.
The US price for Laowa 10mm f/2.8 Zero-D FF is $799 USD for all mounts (Both AF and MF version are the same price). Pricing varies in different countries. Shipping starts from mid-March.
