The Spectra Cine PRO V Exposure Meter with TFT Display was designed to precisely measure light intensity, covering illuminance levels ranging from 0.01 to 1,000,000 lux, with a sensitivity range extending to nearly one hundred million to one.
Cinematographers can use the meter to measure ambient light directly in f/stops, foot-candles, and lux.
The Spectra Professional V Light Meter architecture is based on its predecessor the Spectra Professional IV-A Light Meter technology, which was awarded multiple awards including Technical “OSCAR” and Engineering “EMMY” and has been the Standard in the motion picture industry for over 30 years and over 20 thousand meters are used worldwide since its introduction.
It features a trans-impedance and multiple-range linear circuit, making it the widest dynamic range circuit available in a handheld meter design. The meter is designed to measure from one hundred million to one or 0.01 to 1,076,400 lux, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
If you are not familiar with Spectra Cine meters they have been the industry standard and the choice of professionals for the past 50 years. Spectra have received several International Engineering Awards including Award of Outstanding Achievement in Engineering development from the American Society of Lighting Designers, Technical Academy Award from Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and Primetime Engineering Emmy from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for the design, development and manufacture of technically superior products important to these industries.

The Spectra Cine PRO V Exposure Meter features a 2.8″ TFT color touchscreen LCD display and a built-in USB-C serial interface that can be used to connect to a power bank, for software updates, and data streams.
The Spectra Cine Professional V Light Meter measures incident and reflected light with the 1-degree spot attachment, making it suitable for use in a variety of settings.
You can use the meter to measure ambient light directly in f/stops, foot-candles, or lux. The F/stop measuring range extends from f/0.35 to f/128 in 1/10-stops increments, and an analog bar graph range from f/0.7 to f/45 in 1/3-stop increments. The touch menu allows you to select and switch between ISO, FPS, exposure time, filter factor adjustment, camera shutter angle, hardware settings, calibration screen, and product information. You can also customize the meter to suit your specific needs.
The firmware for the microprocessor was developed using a popular development framework and a graphics library for managing the touch display. This firmware handles hardware initialization and control, auto-ranging, display, storage, energy saving, settings, calibration, and diagnostics. It is designed to provide accurate and reliable light measurement readings.
The memory function can store up to ten different measurements and the stored readings can be recalled with a simple press of the RCL switch. Both memory function and stored readings can be displayed simultaneously on a 2.8″ TFT color display along with film speed, frames per second for cine use, or exposure time in still photography.
The device can be powered using 3 x AA 1.5 volts long-lasting lithium batteries or 3 x AA Nicad rechargeable batteries or Spectra Power Bank which can be purchased separately. It can be connected via the meter’s USB C port and should be able to continuously operate the meter for several days. To extend the life of the batteries the backlight display should be set at 50% brightness for optimum brightness and power conservation. The backlight display brightness can be adjusted from 5% to 100%. The life of the batteries is claimed to be 1200 charging cycles or 24 months.
