SmallRig was showing its new FreeRover Carbon Fiber Photo Tripod Kit AP-100 at Inter BEE 2023 in Japan.
The SmallRig FreeRover Carbon Fiber Photo Tripod Kit AP-100 was designed specifically to be a lightweight and compact travel tripod. It features a one-step tightening and quick adjustment system that allows you to extend each individual leg out all the way without having to undo all three locking mechanisms.

It is made of 1.2mm thick carbon fiber, so it is very lightweight and it collapses up into a very compact size which is handy for travel. The tripod weighs 1.38kg / 3.04 lb yey it can support a payload capacity of up to 15kg / 33.06 lb. This allows you to use anything from a mirrorless hybrid up to a small to mid-sized digital cinema camera.
The maximum height the tripod will reach is 150cm / 59.1″ and it will collapse down to 46cm / 18.1″.
With a ball head, it isn’t going to be the best option for shooting video if you need to pan and tilt, but for attaching a second camera for a locked-off shot it could work well.
The ball head features a quick-release design for use with Arca-Swiss plates. and smaller-sized manfrotto plates.
The quick-adjust center column has a detachable short column that allows users to invert the ball head if they need to shoot very low to the ground.
The tripod is also able to be spread out so that it goes very low, which is handy for certain shots.
The tripod also has 1/4″-20 threaded holes for accessories, and silicone feet pads with hidden spiked feet if you need to use it on uneven terrain.
