SmallRig has released new Camera Cages for the Nikon Z8. Like most camera cages it was designed to protect the camera while adding mounting points for accessories.
Camera Cage for Nikon Z8
This full Camera Cage attaches to the Z8 using 1/4″-20 and locating screws. It was designed so that you still have access to all of the buttons and dials, card slots, battery door, etc.
On the cage, there are multiple 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 mounting threads for attaching accessories. Along with these mounting points, there is also an ARRI 3/8″-16 thread, NATO rail, and cold-shoe mount.
The cage comes with a built-in Arca-type base, which is compatible with DJI RS series gimbals and select tripod base plates. This allows you to go from handeld to tripod, gimbal, etc, quickly.

Handheld Camera Cage Kit for Nikon Z8
The Handheld Camera Cage Kit includes the main camera cage and a top handle, which attaches to the cage via an ARRI 3/8″-16 anti-twist screw. The handle features additional mounting threads, cold-shoe mounts, and a single 15mm rod bracket.

Camera Cage for Nikon Z8 with MB-N12 Battery Grip
SmallRig’s Cage for Nikon Z8 with MB-N12 Battery Grip features the same mounting features as the main cage, while offering access to the battery grip’s door. The bottom and side of the cage have integrated Arca-type mounts. The camera and battery grip are secured inside via M2.5 locking screws and single 1/4″-20 screw.
