RED KOMODO Version 1.7.4 Beta Firmware

RED has released KOMODO Version 1.7.4 Beta Firmware. Now before you get too excited, this is a very minor firmware update that mainly fixed bug issues.

Like a lot of camera companies, once a new model comes out the tendency is not to add new features to older cameras.

Significant Changes Since Build 1.7.3 beta

  • Fixed user calibration error after upgrade
  • Fixed inconsistent Iris values on lens swap
  • Fixed R3D timecode mismatch in camera array
  • Fixed Absolute Frame Guide when values are outside the format limits
  • Improved RCP2 CDL control

  • Added GPO Tally Out support
  • Added RF Iris Compensation
  • Added Prograde 320GB/640GB support
  • Added upcoming clip filename to SDI HANC while in preview
  • Fixed Low Voltage warnings with BP-style batteries
  • Fixed possible firmware upgrade freeze at 50%
  • Fixed possible calibration failure
  • Fixed incorrect color space information in SDI ancillary data
  • Fixed no CDL being applied to top LCD
  • Fixed 3D LUT metadata displayed in playback
  • Fixed ‘LCD Guides Toggle’ and ‘LCD Tools Toggle’ user setting
  • Fixed reset of absolute frameguide width/height value when disabled
  • Fixed playback on Monochrome cameras

How to Upgrade KOMODO Firmware

  1. Copy upgrade.bin to a /upgrade directory on the CFast card.
  2. Power up the camera and insert a CFAST card into the KOMODO media slot.
  3. Go to Menu > Maintenance > Upgrade and select OK.
  4. The camera initiates a 2 stage upgrade process which will automatically restart the camera.
  5. After the camera restarts to complete the upgrade process, select RESTART once it appears.
  6. Go to Menu > System Settings > System Status > Camera Info to verify the firmware version after the camera boots.

You will also need to download the latest REDCINE-X PRO from https://www.red.com/downloads.

Operational Notes

  • Warning message will occur with unapproved Media and Batteries.
