At NAB 2023, Paul from Atomos gave me a full Atomos Connect Cloud Studio workflow tour. It has expanded, and they are introducing an editing platform to the workflow this year and many other features.
The three hardware options are the Atomos CONNECT Network, Wireless & SDI Expansion for NINJA V/V+, Atomos Shogun CONNECT 7″ Network-Connected HDR Video Monitor & Recorder, Atomos ZATO CONNECT 5.2″ Network-Connected Video Monitor & Recorder.
The lowest entry price for using the Atomos Cloud Studio would be the Atomos CONNECT Network, Wireless & SDI Expansion for NINJA V+. This currently is on special, so you can get both units for approximately $800.
Once you have an Atomos Connect device, you can subscribe to the Atomos Studio Cloud Studio. They offer a free version and several different tiers based on your needs and, with the highest being $100 monthly. With Atomos Connect, you can stream live to several social platforms and use frame.io, but now you can do much more.
With the service, you can have a control room-type setup for live productions. This includes talkback and tally for cameras.
As I mentioned earlier, Atomos has introduced Atomos Clouud Edit. Just like camera to cloud that pushes files to the cloud with Atomos Cloud-Based Editing, the files will go directly to a bin in the editing platform, and you can start editing right away. This is all web-based with no software installed. You can also export XML files to use in other NLE platforms such as FCPX, Premiere Pro, and Davinci Resolve.
Atomos states they are the only company with complete vertical video capture hardware and cloud services integration. It provides a gateway between cameras from all major manufacturers and the cloud. To learn more about Atomos Cloud Studio vast options, check out their website.
