The Lilliput HT5S 5.5″ Ultrahigh 2000 cd/m² Brightness Touchscreen On-Camera Monitor is the latest budget-priced entry into an already saturated market.
The HT5S is a 1920 x 1080 touchscreen monitor that features an ultrabright 2000 cd/m² display and a claimed 1000:1 contrast ratio.
Key features
- 5.5″ 1920 x 1200 Touchscreen Display

The monitor has both 3G-SDI and HDMI inputs and outputs, and it supports up to UHD 4K60 video via HDMI and up to 1080p60 via 3G-SDI. You can also load up 3D LUTs via the USB port, and it is claimed to be able to support HDR imaging with the ability to display a wide dynamic range such as HLG or ST2084-300/1000/10000. I would imagine that this is more of an HDR simulation than anything else.
The monitor can be powered via a single L-series battery or from mains through an optional 12 VAC adapter.
The HT5S also features a speaker, a headphone jack, and multiple image control functions.
You can mount the monitor on your camera rig by attaching the included shoe mount adapter to the 1/4″-20 bottom thread.
The monitor does have some nice added functionality if you are a user of certain Sony cameras that can utilize a LANC cable. By attaching a LANC cable between the camera and the monitor you can control and access various settings, although this does depend on the camera you are using.
An HDMI to micro-HDMI cable, a Sony LANC cable, and a USB-A disk drive are also included in the box.
