The SIRUI A100B Bi-Color Automatic Inflatable Photography Light is being touted as the World’s first self-inflatable LED fixture.
According to SIRUI, the A100B was designed to combine the benefits of inflatable lights with fabric lights. It features self-inflation, a slim form factor, and it breaks down into a relatively manageable size.
There have been quite a few inflatable softboxes come to market over the years, and while SIRUI’s concept isn’t entirely new, the main differentiation is that it auto-inflates instead of you having to manually blow air inside it.
How does it inflate?
All you need to do is turn the power switch on and the light will automatically start inflating, and once the light is fully inflated, the inflation stops. SIRUI claims that the inflation process takes around 1 minute to complete.
To deflate the light all you do is release the valve and then push the air out.
What can the light do?
The fixture has a CCT range of 2800-8500K and it features 12 lighting effects. The intensity and speed of each effect can also be adjusted. SIRUI claims that the light has high output and exceptional color accuracy. In saying that, the claimed output figure is just 1,900 lx @1m. There is no +/- G/M correction.
The A100B features an integrated diffuser on the front and the main reason for this was so that users could quickly create a soft lighting source without needing to add any additional accessories.
How do you control & power it?
The A100B can be controlled via onboard controls or through an app. As far as power is concerned, the fixture can either be run from mains power or through a V-mount battery if you need to power it remotely on location. The light draws 100W.
You need to be aware that the light comes with a separate power supply/controller, which looks very similar to some of the Intellytech controllers.
According to SIRUI, the light runs silently.
How big is it & how much does it weigh?
The SIRUI A100B Bi-Color Automatic Inflatable Photography Light weighs 1.6kg / 3.52 lb, and the power supply/controller tips the scales at 1.49kg / 3.28 lb. According to SIRUI, The light has physical dimensions of 68.5cm x 50cm x 10cm / 26.9″ x 19.7″ x 3.93″, but that doesn’t sound correct looking at the actual size of the light in the images on their website.
