Pan’s Workflow Station Professional Card Reader Hub was designed to be an all-in-one modular system that allows you to copy a wide array of popular media cards.
The modular design allows you to insert up to four modules depending on your requirements. You can also use it as an interface for attaching other USB devices.
The four modules that you can buy in a kit with the hub, or individually are:
- MicroSD module
- USB module
- SD Module
- CFexpress Type B Module
Each module can also be directly connected to a computer/cell phone/iPad for independent use. This is certainly not the first time we have seen a system like this. There have been quite a few companies over the years that have made modular media docking stations.
The whole idea behind the system is that you can take the individual modules out on the road with you and then when you are back home you can put them into the hub.
The Pan’s Workflow Station Professional Card Reader Hub features a USB 3.2 Gen2 10Gbps high-speed transfer. According to the company, 1GB files can be transferred in less than 2 seconds, and the measured write speeds are up to 680MB/S. While this isn’t blindingly fast, it is still pretty good, and of course, how fast you can copy will always depend on the read speed capabilities of the media you are using.
The hub’s slots can all be used at the same time and they have a locking switch to avoid accidental removal.
The Workflow Station features an Aluminum alloy shell, and it is powered via a single PD100W power supply.

Thoughts
While this looks like a decent solution, it would have been good to have seen modules for other forms of media such as CFast 2.0 and CFexpress type A.
