ARRI has acquired the lighting company Claypaky. According to ARRI, with Claypaky now part of its corporate group, it will become a leading lighting solutions provider for both motion picture and live entertainment, with the added benefit of being able to offer a broader range of products to cater to customers’ needs.
Even though Claypaky has been acquired by ARRI, it will retain its own organization and brand. If you are not familiar with Claypaky, they are an Italian company and one of the top lighting manufacturers in the entertainment and stage industry. They were founded in 1976 and they are based in Seriate (Bergamo, Northern Italy). In 2014 they were acquired by OSRAM.
Claypaky has a long and successful history featuring a large number of original and innovative product such as moving body and moving mirror projectors, color-changers, followspots, projectors, and various lighting effects. The professional sectors using Claypaky light effects include theater, television, live events, trade fairs, theme parks, shops, conference centers, and many more.
You can see one of Claypaky’s most recent products above.
ARRI has been making lights since 1953, and all of its lighting products have been manufactured in Stephanskirchen, Southern Germany, only a few hundred kilometers away from the Claypaky headquarters in Seriate.
It will be interesting to see what comes of the acquisition. It is quite possible that the two companies could combine to create more lighting solutions to work with LED volumes.
