OWC has announced a new range of Atlas Pro CFexpress Type B Cards. These cards are available in five different capacities ranging from 128GB up to 2TB.
The new Atlas Pro CFexpress Type B cards are being billed as a cost-effective choice for professional users. The cards are capable of capturing up to 6K high bitrate video. Whether you’re using a firmware-updated XQD camera or are a filmmaker using a digital cinema camera, there’s an Atlas Pro CFexpress card in the optimal capacity for your specific need.
Big theoretical performance numbers are usually misleading. OWC flash storage solutions are run through intensive performance testing, and they share their test setup and parameters. The Atlas Pro CFexpress cards have a reliable peak performance of up to 1500MB/s write, 1700MB/s read, and up to 400MB/s sustained write speeds.
Up to 1500MB/s write / up to 1700MB/s read peak performance was observed based on testing OWC Atlas Pro CFexpress cards in an Ableconn PEX-CF106 PCI Express 3.0 x4 Host Adapter Card in a Gigabyte Aorus Master X570 motherboard with an AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 4.9GHz CPU and 32GB RAM, in Windows 10 Pro using Crystal Disk Mark (1GB file size). The performance will vary depending on host hardware, software, usage, and Atlas Pro CFexpress card storage capacity used.
The cards have the following minimum sustained write speeds:
MIN. SUSTAINED WRITE SPEED | |
160GB | 140MB/s |
256GB | 300MB/s |
512GB | 400MB/s |
1TB | 400MB/s |
2TB | 400MB/s |
The OWC Atlas Pro cards in capacities under 512GB are not going to be suitable for use in some of the cameras that take CFexpress Type B media if you need to record at their highest resolution and frame rate settings. Only the 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB versions of the card will with cameras such as the Canon EOS R3/R5/R5C.
The Atlas Pro CFexpress cards are claimed to flawlessly deliver the speed and data integrity you need. They are fully compatible with a wide variety of DSLR, mirrorless hybrids, and digital cinema cameras. They also meet all CFexpress Type B 1.0 and 2.0 specifications. The cards are impact, bend, shock, ESD, UV ray, and x-ray resistant. To top things off they all come with a 3-Year OWC Limited Warranty.
