ARRI has released new software updates for both the ALEXA 35 and ALEXA Mini LF. ALEXA 35 SUP 1.0.3 Revision 7 and ALEXA Mini LF SUP 7.1.2 don’t add new features, but they do fix some bugs and they are required to work with a few new component changes.
As the supply situation continues to be a challenge and ALEXA 35 cameras are in high demand, ARRI will be adding alternative versions of the MVF-2 viewfinder and the CODEX Compact Drive 2TB with a changed component.
This change has no impact on the functionality, performance, or reliability of the viewfinder and drives, so long as the latest camera software update has been installed. Using the changed components increases flexibility on the supply side and therefore allows ARRI to keep production quantities high.
MVF-2 viewfinders will be equipped with the new component from serial number 6850 on. Compact Drive 2TB with a changed component can be identified with a serial number starting with a ‘273xxxxx’ (CB16-2048, Rev B; ARRI Order ID: K2.0023447; CODEX Model No: CX.0001073). Please note that it is not possible to offer customers a choice of which viewfinder or drive version will be shipped. Both versions will be offered under the same ARRI order number and will be shipped based purely on availability.
The MVF-2 and the Compact Drive 2TB with the changed component are supported by the just-released ALEXA 35 SUP 1.0.3 Revision 7 and ALEXA Mini LF SUP 7.1.2. ARRI strongly recommends performing these updates to ensure compatibility with all MVF-2 viewfinders and Compact Drive 2TB units.
Both SUPs also contain general stability improvements and bug fixes. The ALEXA 35 SUP fixes a bug that could lead to the ALEXA 35 filter slider getting stuck (Error #6) and another one that improves the stability of in-camera updates on the Compact Drive 1TB (Error #5).
