SIGMA has announced the development of two 65mm Prime Cine lenses, the 65mm T1.5 CINE FF Prime and the 65mm T2.5 CINE FF Classic Prime lenses.
Both lenses will be new focal lengths in their respective series. SIGMA has also said that you will also be available to purchase the Classic Prime lenses individually. Previously you could only buy them in a set.
SIGMA hasn’t released any new focal lengths in either set for many years and I think a lot of cinematographers were wondering if they ever would. The SIGMA lenses face a lot of competition from lenses such as the Tokina Cinema Vista series which have a lot more focal lengths available.
65mm T1.5 FF CINE FF Prime
The 65mm T1.5 FF is a fast prime lens that is compatible with large format digital cinema cameras. With the addition of the 65mm T1.5 FF, SIGMA will have a total of eleven 35mm full-frame compatible prime lenses ranging from 14mm to 135mm.
The 65mm T1.5 FF is available in PL (/i Technology compatible), EF and E-mounts. The lens has a front diameter of 95mm and a close focus ability of 65cm / 3.7′.
65mm T2.5 Classic Prime
The Classic Prime 65mm T2.5 FF adopts an optical system designed exclusively for the 65mm T1.5 FF cinema lens, but like the previously released FF Classic Prime Line lenses, the optical system is centered upon uncoated lenses. This configuration makes it possible to achieve both the high resolution that SIGMA CINE LENS is known for, as well as classic image expression with low contrast and beautiful flaring and ghosting effects. With the addition of the 65mm T2.5 FF Classic Prime Line lens, SIGMA now offers a total of 11 prime lenses ranging from 14mm to 135mm.
The Classic Prime 65mm T2.5 FF is only available in PL mount. It also features a 95mm front diameter and the close focus ability is 65cm / 2.2′.
Above you can see the specifications for the Classic Prime 65mm T2.5 FF and below you can see the specifications for all the lenses in the series.
