SmallRig has announced its new Forevala W60 2.4GHz Dual-Channel Compact Wireless Microphone System.
The Forevala W60 is being touted as an affordable wireless audio solution that could be used for a wide array of video productions. It features a compact size and it has been designed to be virtually plug and play which makes it user-friendly.
Key features
- For Vlog, Mobile Journalism, Livestream
- 2 Clip-On Transmitters, 1 Receiver
- 2.4 GHz Wireless Frequency
- Omnidirectional Condenser Microphones
- 328′ Transmission Distance
- 8-Hour Battery Life
- Switch Between Mono and Stereo Recording
- LCD Displays on Receiver & Transmitters
- Plug and Play Smart Pairing
The kit consists of two transmitters (TX), each with a built-in omnidirectional condenser microphone and a receiver (RX).
The receiver and transmitters both feature LCD displays that indicate power, signal, and volume, etc.
Both TX units also support 3.5mm TRS microphones.
The receiver remotely controls a one-click setup for mono or stereo recording.
SmallRig claims that the built-in high-capacity lithium-polymer batteries can power the units for up to 8 hours on a single charge.
The TX units can transmit audio with a claimed low-latency of 10ms up to 100m / 328ft away. The system utilizes the 2.4G Adaptive Frequency Hopping technology.
A one-touch Low-Cut Filter is claimed to help remove annoying low-frequency background noise below 200Hz. When working in stereo, the Gain Control on the RX lets you individually fine-tune the output of each microphone.
The transmitters have a built-in clip to attach the microphone to a shirt or jacket. Since they are also magnetic, you can attach them directly to metal surfaces or use the included metal stickers to hide the microphones behind clothing.
I have said it before and all brands are guilty of doing this. I wish companies wouldn’t put big logos or displays on devices that will be in shot. Audio devices should be heard and not seen.
The TX/RX Storage Case holds the RX and both TX units. It also acts as a charging case when you attach an external battery pack or AC adapter to the USB-A cable or USB-C port.
You can charge the receiver and transmitters in about 1-1.5 hours. If you prefer, the RX/TX can also be charged directly through their built-in USB-C ports.
