Laowa has announced a new silver version of its Nanomorph 1.5x anamorphic lens series. This isn’t a silver-colored lens, but a version that renders a neutral-colored flare.
Compared to a more common blue flare, the silver version provides more control over the flare color. The silver version flare changes flare color according to the light source. The flare is also more subtle and less distracting.
You can now choose between Amber, Blue, or Silver when you order the Nanomorph 1.5x anamorphic lenses. I am not sure why they didn’t just make a neutral version in the first place, but I am pretty sure this new ‘Silver’ version is the direct result of potential buyers asking for one.
Just like the Amber and Blue Versions, the Silver version is available in 3 different focal lengths, 27mm T2.8, 35mm T2.4, and 50mm T2.4. All the lenses are also available in Canon EF, PL mount, Canon R, Sony E, M43, DJI DL, Nikon Z, L mount, and Fuji X. Mounts are also interchangeable.
I reviewed the Nanomorph 1.5x anamorphic lenses on the site and you can read that review here. At the time, I wrote in my review: ‘Personally, I would have preferred something more neutral that takes on the color of the light source you are pointing towards, but to each their own.’

Normal Retail Price for single lens is $999 USD (Mirrorless Mounts) and $1,499 USD (EF & PL Mounts). A 3-lens bundle with a protective case will be retailed at $2,699 USD (Mirrorless Mounts) and $3,999 USD (EF & PL Mounts). The lenses are expected to be shipped from August onwards.
