At NAB 2022, Teradek was showing a sneak peek of its upcoming MDR.S 3-channel controller. This is being touted as a new affordable addition to the Teradek RT FIZ system.
The MDR.S features a very lightweight and compact design and it is roughly half the size of the previous MDR.X it is set to replace. It has physical dimensions of 2.28in (W) x 0.94in (D) x 1.65in (H) / 58mm (W) x 24mm (D) x 42mm (H) and it weighs in at just 2.4 oz (68g).
The MDR.S allows you to daisy chain up to three Teradek RT motors. It also supports up to a 28V power input range for greater flexibility with more cameras, and the ability to wireless connect to the Teradek RT app so you can remotely configure lens maps.
There is also a camera control port that you can use to run/stop record your camera from your hand unit.
With the Teradek RT FIZ system, you can also get critical follow focus information directly on your SmallHD monitor including focus distance,
focal length, iris, zoom, and more. Please be aware that this requires an additional license from SmallHD.
