Angelbird has announced a 4TB AV Pro CFexpress Mk2 Type-B Memory Card. To my knowledge, this is the first 4TB CFexpress Type B card, with the previous maximum capacity being 2TB.
Angelbird also has 1TB, 2TB versions of the AV Pro CFexpress Mk2 Type-B Memory Card available.
With more and more cameras coming to market that are shooting in 8K and in 8K RAW, there is a real need for higher capacity recording media.
Angelbird states that its new CFexpress Type B card is available in up to 4 TB for capturing the highest bit-rate RAW video and photo files at 6K, 8K, and 12K+ resolutions.
The AV PRO CFexpress MK2 Type B card is claimed to have no throttling of performance and a guaranteed minimum sustained speed of 1300 MB/s throughout the entire capacity of the card. The max claimed write speed is 1550 MB/s. A minimum sustained write speed of 1300 MB/s far exceeds the current requirements of any camera that is recording to CFExpress Type B media. Even RED’s V-RAPTOR only requires a sustained write speed of 850 MB/s when recording 8K RAW at 120p.
The card utilizes Angelbird’s Y2 super-processor that was designed specifically for RAW photo and video content creation and is designed to protect against overheating and to operate at a reduced power draw.
Price & Availability
The Angelbird 4TB AV Pro CFexpress Mk2 Type-B Memory Card is now available to pre-order for $1,799.99 USD. While this may sound like a lot of money, this card offers high minimum sustained write speeds and a very large capacity.
