Moment has released new CineFlare Streak Filters. The CineFlare Filters were designed to add anamorphic-like flares to your footage. Streak filters are nothing new and countless filter manufacturers have had options on the market for years.
Moment’s CineFlare Streak Filters are available in two different versions, blue and gold. The filter ring is made from precision machined aluminum, and the housing is fully rotatable so you can adjust the flare angle.
The filter is claimed to be made from premium Japanese optical glass and Moment states that you can even stack them with other filters. The filters have 30 layers of advanced coating and these coatings include anti-scratch, anti-reflection, anti-oil, and hydrophobic coatings.
The CineFlare Streak Filter utilizes a thread and you can just screw it onto the front of your lens.
The filters can also be used on your smartphone. The CineFlare filter was made to be compatible with Moment’s M-Series Lenses using their 67mm M-Series Lens Filter Mount. You can also pop this filter onto almost any phone using the 67mm Phone Filter Mount as well.
I personally find that you need to use restraint with any type of streak filter especially if there are multiple light sources in your shot. You can easily go from something that is quite subtle to something that is too much and overly distracting.
