The OBSBOT Meet is a 4K webcam that leverages onboard AI to instantly blur the background, or replace it. There are two versions available, one with a 1080P output, and one that can output 4K (UHD) or 1080p.
You might be thinking, hold on, I can do that already on my computer with my in-built webcam. Yes, you can, however, selecting this option does tend to use significantly more processing power, which can drag down the video quality, especially if you don’t have a great internet connection. The whole concept behind the OBSBOT Meet is that it was developed to run AI algorithms for processing images directly on its hardware, which is different from software-based solutions.
The way the OBSBOT Meet works is you just plug it in like any normal webcam. It then operates like any traditional webcam until you press a button on the Meet which then activates the background blur or background replacement. Now, it is claimed that the onboard AI blurs the video’s background with unparalleled accuracy and consistency that differentiates the background from the user’s silhouette, down to their fingertips. I haven’t personally seen or used the OBSBOT Meet so I have no idea how it actually performs.
According to the company, the OBSBOT Meet features HDR color correction and auto-exposure, an embedded dual microphone with noise reduction, as well as AI-powered auto-framing and auto-focus features.
The camera itself utilizes a 1/2.8″ Sony sensor, this is the same sensor that is found in the OBSBOT Tiny 4K. The OBSBOT Meet comes with a mount that you can use to attach it to laptops or desktop computers.
The Meet also comes with a privacy cover that you can attach to it when it isn’t in use.
