Vaxis who is best known for its wireless video transmission systems has been branching out lately and their latest product line is a new range of FX filters.
The first filters to be released are as follows:
- White True-Streak Filter
- Blue True-Streak Filter
- Rainbow True-Streak Filter
- Rainbow Dazzle Filter
- Star-cross Filter
The filters are available in the 4×5.65″ size which means they are suitable for use in most professional matte boxes. The Clear/Blue/Rainbow True-Streak Filters are designed to be used perpendicular to a point light source such as the sun, a light bulb, or a candle. Within the filter’s glass is a combination of fine lines which only react to point light sources.
A few of the filters are available in various strengths. Below you can see the options.
- VAXIS 4×5.65″ 1mm White True-Streak Filter
- VAXIS 4×5.65″ 2mm White True-Streak Filter
- VAXIS 4×5.65″ 3mm White True-Streak Filter
- VAXIS 4×5.65″ 1mm Blue True-Streak Filter
- VAXIS 4×5.65″ 2mm Blue True-Streak Filter
- VAXIS 4×5.65″ 3mm Blue True-Streak Filter
- VAXIS 4×5.65″ 1mm Rainbow True-Streak Filter
- VAXIS 4×5.65″ 2mm Rainbow True-Streak Filter
- VAXIS 4×5.65″ 3mm Rainbow True-Streak Filter
I reached out to Vaxis to ask who is actually making these filters and I was told that they are designed and made by VAXIS (GMCINE) team.
Streak filters are not a new concept and companies such as Tiffen, Schneider, and NiSi have had options on the market for many years.
Lindsey Optics also makes a comprehensive range of Brilliant² 4 x 5.65″ Rota-Streak Filters that come in their own rotatable tray.
