Tamron has announced the 150-500mm F5-6.7 Di VC VXD & 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD. These are both Sony E-mount lenses.
Tamron 150-500mm F5-6.7 Di VC VXD
The Tamron 150-500mm F5-6.7 Di VC VXD is a full-frame Sony E-mount lens that is being touted as a compact ultra-telephoto zoom lens with image stabilization.
According to Tamron, the 150-500mm F5-6.7 can reach a long 500mm focal length while still retaining a compact size. The length of the lens is 209.6mm (8.3″)., however, once extended out to 500mm it is 283mm (11.1″).
The optical design consists of 25 elements in 16 groups and Tamron states that it utilizes special lens elements and hybrid aspherical lens elements to control various potential aberrations such as chromatic aberrations. The lens has a MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 0.6m (23.6″) when used at 150mm.
The 150-500mm F5-6.7 zoom is equipped with a high-speed, high-precision linear motor focus mechanism VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) and VC (Vibration Compensation).
The lens also features a VC mode selection switch with three modes including a dedicated panning mode (Mode 1: Standard, Mode 2: Exclusively for Panning, and Mode 3: Framing priority).
The lens features an Arca-Swiss compatible tripod mount that has strap attachment holes. Tamron claims that the lens includes a Moisture-Resistant Construction and Fluorine Coating.
The new 150-500mm F5-6.7 is compatible with many of the advanced features that are specific to mirrorless cameras. These include:

Tamron 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD
The 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD is a fast-aperture ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for Sony E-mount APS-C mirrorless cameras. According to Tamron, the F2.8 maximum aperture is a world’s first for Sony E-mount APS-C mirrorless in this category. While this may be technically true, you have been able to use lenses like the Tokina atx-i 11-20mm f/2.8 CF Lens with an adapter on Sony E-mount cameras for years.
Tamron claims that special lens elements have been optimally arranged to suppress optical aberrations. These features combine to produce clear images and high-resolution performance.
The lens has been designed to be light weight and compact. It has a MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 0.15m (5.9″) at 11mm and 0.24m (9.4″) at 20mm. It also features a Moisture-Resistant Construction and Fluorine Coating
The lens incorporates a fast precision AF drive system with an RXD (Rapid-eXtra-silent stepping Drive) stepping motor unit.
