The Simmod Lenses SIMTray Filter Adapter is a clever little product that lets you use 77mm or 82mm circular filters inside 4″ x 4″ and 4″ x 5.65″ filter stages.
This allows you to adapt filters you may already own and use them inside matte boxes.
Looking at the images on the website, if you owned a multi-stage matte box, you would obviously have to use this tray at the front because once you screw in your filter is will protrude out.
It would be interesting to see if you actually could run one of these filter adapters with another 4″ x 4* or 4″ x 5.65″ filter behind it on a wide-angle lens. I suspect that depending on the lens being used, this could be a problem.

The only catch is that you need a different Filter Adapter depending on whether you want to use a 77mm or 82mm circular filter.
The Filter Adapters are made of solid billet aluminum, and each SIMTray is CNC precision cut and anodized in matte black.
