CoreSWX has announced their new VMT Plate for the RED KOMODO that converts the dual BP mount to a V-mount. A gold-mount version is also in the works.
The battery plate has passed RED’s third-party accessory program which means that it has been tested by RED’s engineering team for compatibility.
The CXV-KOMU is a BP to v-mount plate direct mount specifically designed for the RED Komodo camera, allowing use of 14.4V V-Mount batteries and leaving the camera’s DC input available for AC power and battery hot-swap.
When used with “smart” batteries that pass SMBUS data like Core SWX batteries, the camera will read battery percentage and runtime, providing accurate remaining battery capacity info. It’s equipped with 3 DC output ports: P-Tap, USB, and 2pin Lemo.
The plate also has a reinforced V-Mount locking mechanism, making it more durable and robust. You can see a knock test by Jason Diamond below.
Pricing & Availability
The CXV-KOMU retails for $199 USD and is set to ship from mid-October.
It is also available in a bundle with two Nano V98 batteries for $689 USD.
Core SWX also has a few RED KOMODO specific cables available on their website.
