DP & Director Al Morrow has launched the BIGSOFTI light on Kickstarter, a small & portable diffused LED light designed for smartphones & cameras.
The campaign is already fully funded.
BIGSOFTI measures in at 110mm wide by 54mm tall, big enough to produce a diffused light source for close-medium shots. It’s also quite light, weighing only 75 grams (2.6oz)
The light has a claimed CRI of 95+ and TLCI of 98+ with Bi-Colour LEDs to set the light to daylight, tungsten, or clean white modes.
There was no output measurement listed, but it has three brightness levels. Powered by a 1200mAh lithium battery, it has a max run time of 240 minutes on the low setting or 95 minutes on the max setting.
Accessories
The BIGSOFTI doesn’t have any mounting points on the unit itself but has separate mounting accessories.
The accessories slide on to the rotating barrel mount, to offer a 1/4″-20 thread, clamp or cold shoe.
Pricing
Since it’s a Kickstarter campaign, you will find various kit offerings available along with early bird specials.
The Kickstarter price for a single BIGSOFTI light and one accessory is $65 USD, normally $79 USD.

Competitors
How does it stack up to the competition?
Aputure’s MC light comes to mind, being a small fixture that has a built-in battery. It also uses RGBWW LEDs, so you aren’t limited to just bi-color and offers wireless control using the Sidus Link app.
It is already available and a single light sells for $90 USD.
Another option is the Pilotfly’s ATOMCUBE RX1 which we have reviewed and packs a higher output but is more expensive at USD $169.
