Manfrotto has released the new 504X fluid video head which replaces the precious 504HD.
The 504x is not only lighter than the predecessor but has an increased payload capacity of 26.5lb (12kg) and a four-step counterbalance.
Manfrotto claims that the 504x has better performance with new fluid technology that allows for the larger payloads. The pan & tilt axes each have independent drag settings & locks.
The tilt drag and lock interface has been taken from the Nitrotech 608/612 which enables you to lock, unlock and adjust the drag of the tilt axis on the fly.
It is a flat-based style head but can be paired with a half-ball adapter to be used with ball base legs.
Manfrotto’s Easy Link & ARRI standard rosettes are found on each side for attaching the handle or other accessories.
The 504x fluid head retails for $399 standalone or is available in a kit with a wide range of legs to choose from.
