We have seen a plethora of third party battery powering solutions come to market for the BMPCC 6K and 4K. Both of these cameras have poor run times and therefore in most situations, you need to power them using an external solution.
Here is one of the more unusual solutions that I have stumbled across that you could use to power your BMPCC.
The CCTECH External on Tripod Plate Battery Power Supply Bank For BMPCC 4K 6K Blackmagic is a 6800mAh battery that you place in between your camera and tripod mounting plate.
The battery is actually 6x Panasonic NCR18650B batteries that have been combined to provide a single power source that is 10.8V/6800mAH. This equates to being a 73.4Wh battery. This means it can be taken safely onboard an aircraft if you need to travel with it.
CCTECH states that the battery solution is the equivalent of 5.5 Canon LP-E6 batteries.
To use the CCTECH solution you attach the included 35cm power cable from the battery to the 12V power input on your BMPCC.
The cable has a self-locking plug on one end and a locking nut on the DC input that goes to the battery.
There is a battery indicator on the front that lets you see how much remaining battery life you have.
The standard charger is 12.6/2A. The battery is claimed to be able to be fully charged in about 3-4 hours.
The CCTECH battery weighs in at 450g (15.87 oz). It features multiple 3/8″ and 1/4-20″ mounting holes. The main body is made out of aerospace aluminum alloy. CCTECH claims that the battery uses a fully sealed waterproof structure
In terms of battery safety, the CCTECH The battery has overcharge protection, over-discharge protection, over current protection, short circuit protection, and over-voltage protection.
The CCTECH External on Tripod Plate Battery Power Supply Bank For BMPCC 4K 6K Blackmagic retails for $116.99 USD.
