Sony has just announced the new FE 20mm F1.8 G lens, the widest full-frame prime lens in the E-mount line up.
With a focal length of 20mm and a fast F1.8 aperture, it is ideal for photographers & videographers for various types of work. When paired with an APS-C cameras, it would be 30mm (35mm equivalent focal-length), making it a nice street/walk-around lens.
The lens consists of 14 elements in 12 lens groups, including two AA (advanced aspherical) elements and three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements for the suppression of chromatic aberration and delivery of high corner-to-corner image quality.
A 9-bladed aperture will also produce smooth, round bokeh.
At only 373g (0.82lb), and measuring in at only 73.5×84.7 mm (3 × 3 3/8 in.) it is very compact and would balance nicely handheld or on a gimbal.
The iris can be de-clicked for smooth iris adjustments, and it also has an additional button that can be configured in the camera.
Two XD (extreme dynamic) Linear Motors delivers fast, precise and quiet autofocusing for both stills and video shooting.
A minimum focus distance of only 0.19 metres will allow for interesting compositions.
Designed to be dust and moisture resistant[i] and having a fluorine front element coating, the FE 20mm F1.8 G is highly reliable and easy to operate. Filters can be attached using the 67mm thread on the front of the lens.
