RED has released DSMC2 Firmware v7.3.0 which adds 6K support for the DSMC2 Dragon-X and a number of other fixes.
The DSMC2 Dragon-X was introduced in November 2018 and has been one of the most popular RED cameras.
Until now, the Dragon-X could shoot:
- 96 fps at 5K Full Format (5120 x 2700)
- 120 fps at 5K 2.4:1 (5120 x 2160)
With the new firmware, it can now shoot:
- 75 fps at 6K Full Format (6144 x 3160)
- 100 fps at 6K 2.4:1 (6144 x 2592)
When recording in 6K Full Format (6144 x 3160), you can choose from the following REDCODE RAW formats 2:1, 2.4:1, 16:9, 3:2, 6:5, 4:1, 8:1, and Ana 2x, 1.3x, 1.25x
The RED DSMC2 Brain with Dragon-X sensor retails for $14,950 USD.
