Hawk-woods has two new upcoming external powering solutions for the BMPCC 4K. The BMPCC 4K natively uses Canon LP-E6 type batteries and you can get approximately 1-hour of normal usage with each battery. For those wanting longer run times, these adapters will allow you to use Sony NP-F style batteries or larger V-Mount or Gold-Mount batteries.
The DV-BM4 is a battery plate that uses Sony NP-F style batteries. It has a 12V regulator to deliver 12V via the DC connection. The DV-BM4 mounts onto a 1/4-20″ thread so it can be mounted on top of the camera or onto a camera cage.
Please note that the image shown is for demo purposes and doesn’t show the correct connector.
The LR-12, is a dummy LP-E6 battery with a 12V regulator and a D-Tap connection for use with larger V-mount or Gold-mount batteries. It delivers 8.4V via the dummy LP-E6 battery.
The LR-12 will retail for £76. Pricing for the DV-BM4 is yet to be confirmed.
Both adapters are available for pre-order at Hawk-woods dealers.
Competition
With Tilta’s BMPCC 4K cage solution, they are also offering a number of DC & P-Tap power cables as well as an LP-E6 to DC dummy battery. They also have various battery plates being released including one for Sony NP-F type batteries with DC output. The main difference with the Hawk-woods adapters is that they have built-in power regulators.
Another option is the new Power Junkie by Blind Spot Gear. You will still need to add the correct DC out cable or dummy battery.
