The Vitec Group has entered the audio capture market by acquiring renowned audio accessory manufacturer, Rycote.
Vitec already owns a number of broadcast-related brands including Manfrotto, SmallHD, Teradek & Sachtler but this is the first acquisition in the audio category.
If you aren’t familiar with Rycote, they manufacture a number of industry-standard noise reduction equipment including microphone windshields and suspension systems like the lyre shock mount system.
If you look at any microphone setup, you will most likely see a Rycote product, whether it’s the windshield/blimp on the microphone, the shock mount or even the boom pole. Rycote also licenses its Lyre shock mount system to other brands including the popular VideoMic Pro by RØDE Microphones.
With all of the recent integrations between the Vitec brands, it will be exciting to see what future products come out of the new acquisition.
