Panasonic has released a new telephoto lens at WPPI with the Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 50-200mm f/2.8-4 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens (H-ES50200). This would be equivalent to 100-400mm on a 35mm sensor.

Panasonic is using a 240 fps high-speed AF motor for fast and quiet autofocus performance. At such long focal lengths, optical image stabilisation is crucial. The lens is optically stabilised by the Power O.I.S system and can work hand in hand with Panasonic’s Dual I.S. & Dual I.S. 2.0 in-camera stabilisation functions. As for buttons & switches, there are two toggles, one for focus & the other for image stabilisation.
Extra Reach
Compatible with the 1.4x (DMW-TC14) & 2.0x (DMW-TC20) teleconverters, the lens will act as a 140-560mm f/4-5.6 or 200-800mm f/5.6-8 for wildlife & sports photographers. The teleconverters are expected to be available in March-April.
