RØDE Microphones has released its first Audio Interface – the AI-1.
The AI-1 USB Audio Interface adds studio-quality input and output capabilities to your computer, making home recording easier.
The AI-1 has a high-quality NeutrikTM combo jack input and discrete Class-A preamp, you’ll be able to connect either a microphone, guitar or a line level instrument, such as a synthesizer.
I can see this coming in handy for voiceovers and interviews when using a laptop computer. It’s small and compact. RØDE states the AI-1 has zero-latency playback by enabling the direct monitoring feature and playback via headphones/speakers with the high-quality discrete headphone amplifier. The interface also features 48V Phantom Power and is class compliant – so there is no need to install any drivers.
Available as part of the Complete Studio Kit with an included RØDE peerless NT1 large diaphragm condenser microphone, SMR shock mount with popshield, 20 foot XLR and USB C/A cables. All ready to go out of the box.
Included with every AI-1 is Ableton Live Lite 9. A customised version of the music making software Ableton Live. With selected instruments and effects plus all the essential workflows of Live, it provides an easy way to write music, record audio and produce your own songs.
Pricing is set at $129 US for the AI-1 alone and $349 as a kit with the NT1 microphone. Shipping dates are yet to be announced. For more information and full specs, visit www.rode.com/ai1
