The K-Tek Stingray MixPro MixPre-3 & MixPre-6 bags look like a good solution for turning your Sound Devices mixer/recorder into a portable workstation.
The Stingray bags have been designed specifically to accommodate the popular Sound Devices MixPre-3 and MixPre-6. The MixPre-3 and MixPre-6 are lightweight, high-resolution audio recorders with integrated USB audio streaming for use by musicians, sound designers, podcasters, videographers, YouTubers and field recordists.
The Stingray MixPro features a design to accommodate all common working styles and methods, including front and back openings for mounting and a front flap to attach wireless receivers. The removable Front Pouch storage compartment allows you to keep external power options and is large enough to hold common location mixing batteries (like an NP-1 style battery with cup or portable USB-C battery tanks). Oversized MOLLE-style straps let you store additional accessories ranging from wireless receivers to other Stingray bags and pouches. They are positioned on the front of the bag along with the front pouch.
In a nice touch there is a built-in adjustable kickstand so you can use the mixer on a tabletop or flat surface. I like this feature as often mixer bags (especially when loaded up) have a tendency to just fall backwards or forwards because of the weight distribution. Having a stand prevents that from happening and should make seeing snaps operating the control interface access easier.
The multi-layer walls feature the same strong protective exterior and soft orange high-contrast interior as other K-Tek Stingray bags. There are dual curved zippers that go all the way around each side panel to make it easy to access inputs, outputs and controls. A clear vinyl shield to cover the exposed top opening can be folded back or removed. The internal vertical frames give the MixPro the same rigidity and strength that has made the larger Stingray bags a popular choice.
The combined front and bottom flap allows front mounting, and opens wide to give you access to the internal battery packs and media compartment on the bottom of MixPre units. Multiple D-Rings allow use with the optional K-Tek Waistbelt (KSWB1) or the included shoulder strap.
The KSTGMIX Stingray MixPro portable workstation is designed for the Sound Devices MixPre-3 and MixPre-6, but it will also fit the Zoom F4 and F8 mixer recorders. Listed at $200 (USD), the KSTGMIX Stingray MixPro can be ordered now, with deliveries beginning mid-November, 2017.
