It’s the second day of the Photoplus Expo and Olympus have announced two new lenses to their M.Zuiko Pro line up. The M.Zuiko ED 17mm 1:1.2 PRO & M.Zuiko ED 45mm 1:1.2 Pro. These lenses provide full frame equivalents of 34mm & 90mm and will be sure to be a popular choice amongst micro four thirds shooters.
The two additions join the existing M.Zuiko Digital ED 25mm F1.2 PRO to create a nice trio of fast F1.2 primes. Being a part of the M.Zuiko Pro line up, they are all dust, splash & freezeproof.
For video shooters, the fast wide-open aperture will also be a selling point for low light situations. Both lenses also use the “MSC” (Movie & Stills Compatible) mechanism for fast & smooth autofocus during stills or movie recording.
Olympus have focussed on creating a softer, more pleasing bokeh look which it calls “Feathered Bokeh”. This is possible due to the ultra-wide aperture of F1.2 composed of nine rounded aperture blades.
