Bought or Sold any used filmmaking gear? We want to hear your experiences.
It’s always easy to think that more and /or newer gear will get you a better result. Of course in some instances it does hold true, but most of us have (hopefully) arrived at a place where we acquire the stuff we need rather than everything we want.
On the other hand it’s also easy to have a lot of gear that we don’t need any longer hanging around taking up space. Rather than shelve it for that production that may require it one day (or file it in the drawer of shame), the best option is usually to resell or trade it in.
Who can you trust?
Buying anything pre-owned can be an anxious experience – a house, a car – but even comparatively smaller investments like a lens, microphone and especially a camera can make you uneasy. Selling your unwanted gear can also be a hassle, dealing with tyre-kickers and weeding out the genuine buyers.
