The iFootage Komodo K5 Head and Cobra II Monopod were on display at NAB 2017. We first saw a sneak peek of the products at Interbee in Japan last year.
The Komodo K5 Head is made out of aircraft grade aluminium alloy and is said to be corrosion and wear resistant. It uses a flat base and has a 3/8″ mount so you can put it on sliders, monopods and other devices.
The fluid head also features a very large tilting radius which makes it easy to get shots looking straight down over a subject.
First impressions
The iFootage Komodo K5 Head looked like it was well made and seemed to be very smooth for a low cost tripod head. The tripod head can take a payload of up to 5kg and is available for $149 US.
The iFootage Cobra 2 Strike Telescopic Monopad features a nice design where there is only one locking point you need to open to adjust the monopod to any height. It also has a quick release attachment on the top which allows you to easily attach tripod heads such as the Komodo K5. You can also attach multiple Cobra 2 sections to make a very high monopod that you can use to get creative shots with smaller cameras or VR rigs. The Cobra 2 Strike is available in several different sizes and pricing starts at $109 US.
