Ikan has announced two new products to their Blitz line of wireless video systems: the new BZ400-PRO and the new BZ1000-PRO. The Blitz system is said to feature reliable, uncompressed, zero delay video transmission at a more affordable price than some of its competitors.

Blitz Pro wireless video: HD, no lag?

The BZ400-PRO has a range of up to 400 feet while the BZ1000-PRO, as its name suggests, has a range of up to 1,000 feet. Both systems are constructed out of heavy duty yet lightweight aluminium. Ikan has designed a new mount system that makes it easier to attach the Blitz to monitors, rigs, or other devices. The units feature 10 easily selectable channels to choose from and both the transmitter and receiver are claimed to sync up quickly.

They both also offer support up to four receivers paired to a single transmitter. The BZ400-PRO looks to be a good solution for a variety of uses including wireless follow focus systems, gimbals, and Steadicams. It is claimed to be able to send uncompressed video up to 1080 60p with zero delay and supports both HDMI 1.3 and 3G-SDI. The BZ400-PRO comes with Sony L series battery plates that are pre-installed to allow you to power the units.

Ikan Blitz BZ1000-PRO: more inputs, timecode, controls

The larger range BZ1000-PRO also supports 3G-SDI and HDMI inputs and outputs, but unlike the BZ400-PRO it can also support time code and record trigger. The BZ1000-PRO runs off both the Sony L series and V-Mount batteries. The Blitz line of wireless video systems are shipped in a durable hard case.

Just how the Ikan Blitz Pro range stands up against more established wireless video transmission systems from companies like Teradek will be interesting to see, and we’ll check them out at NAB next week.
