Convergent Design have just released Firmware v2016.10 for the Odyssey and Apollo monitor/recorders. This latest firmware enables RAW support for the Panasonic Varicam LT if you have the Odyssey RAW bundle. Other additions, include the Apple ProRes Proxy codec, EDL support (Apollo/Titan Live Switching), ARRIRAW 4:3 and a bunch of other features and fixes. While most of these improvements revolve around paid options there are still quite a few additions for standard Odyssey 7/7Q and 7Q+ owners. LUTs for Canon CLog3 have been added, revised LUTs for use with Sony FS5 and FS Raw, as well as ProRes Proxy recording options.
Perhaps the biggest announcement along with v2016.10 is the release of the Titan 4K/UHD Extract. This is a paid upgrade and enables you to use one 4K/UHD input to generate three HD images. You can see my full review of Titan here.
For owners of the Panasonic Varicam LT, Convergent Design are currently the only company that now offers external Raw recording. The Odyssey Raw bundle will allow users of the LT to record 4K/UHD 12-bit RAW -> 4K CinemaDNG at 23.98, 25, or 29.97p as well as 4K/UHD 10-bit RAW -> 4K CinemaDNG at 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 50, and 59.94p.
For Arri Alexa and Alexa Mini owners Convergent Design now supports ARRIRAW 4:3, that allows you to record Raw in frame rates from 23.98-48p in .ARI from ALEXA cameras outputting a 4:3 signal.
