At the Photokina show Fotodiox were showing off two new affordable LED light ranges. The first was the Popspot line of small hard LED fresnel light sources. These are daylight balanced but have a slot for gels if you need a tungsten balance.
You can add an optional battery module to the light so it can accept regular Sony NP-F type batteries and should last for over an hour on one. It is available in single or three light setup.
The second light range is called Factor. The first in the range will be a 2×1 panel. These are bi-colour LEDs with a soft diffusion panel permanently attached to the front the light. When using the barndoors it should be free of the shadows that can be an issue with multi LED lights. It can run of mains or V-lock batteries.
Fotodiox claim a CRI of 95 for both series of lights.
Pricing for the Factor 2×1 is set to be around $500 US a light, or $1000 for two with a rolling case included. The Popspots should be around the $350 US mark.
