Hot on the heels of GoPro announcing the Karma grip (a hand held stabiliser that is very similar to the OSMO), DJI have released a range of new OSMO accessories.
The first of those accessories is the Osmo Pro/RAW Z-Axis, that eliminates natural vertical movements that come from walking. It is compatible with the Zenmuse X5/X5R gimbal and camera. The Z-Axis is not intended for action sports that involve extreme movement or to be used with other non-DJI devices. It is also not compatible with the Osmo Bike Mount, Extension Rod and Tripod. The Osmo Pro/RAW Z-Axis will cost $179 US and it will start shipping in 3-4 weeks time.
Next is the Osmo Chest Strap Mount that lets users go hands-free by strapping the Osmo or OSMO+ to their chest. This looks to be a good option for stabilised first person video when skating, biking and doing extreme sports. The Osmo Chest Strap Mount is $59 US.
If you need to mount something to a helmet then there is the Osmo Gimbal Extender with the Osmo Sticky Mount to create a stabilised head mounting solution. The Osmo Gimbal Extender is $49 US and the Osmo Sticky Mount is $45 US.
Finally DJI have a high capacity Osmo Intelligent Battery and Osmo Quad Charging System.
It is probably no coincidence that these accessories are being launched just after GoPros recent announcement. Both DJI and GoPro are now competing head to head with hand held stabilisers and drones, and it will be interesting to see which way consumers go.
